February 8 2007 - altis-excelHR, Canada's premier staffing-services provider, is a winner of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies program for 2006, sponsored by Deloitte, CIBC Commercial Banking, National Post and Queen's School of Business.
Having started as excelHR in Ottawa, today the altis-excelHR group employs more than 80 team members, and at any given time, employs 1,800 people on assignment within administration, financial, I.T. and specialized professional positions.
"Being chosen as one of Canada 50 Best Managed Companies is a great honour for us and all of our employees and staff," said Antonio Guimaraes, co-founder of altis-excelHR. "From the beginning, we wanted to bring process and systems to a business that isn't traditionally approached that way - this allows us to focus on other things: building relationships, making successful placements, and identifying opportunities."
By adopting a strategy unique in the staffing-services sector, altis-excelHR hires people for their personal strengths and talents - not necessarily for their experience in the industry.
"To us, it's never been about what a person has done, it's about what they're capable of doing," said Kathryn Tremblay co-founder of altis-excelHR. "We invest heavily in professional development and learning because we know we can equip anyone to be an outstanding consultant if they come in with the right energy, ambition and determination. Being selected as one of Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies has inspired all of us."
altis-excel HR started out in 1989 with two founders, $750 each, and the ambition to become a leader
in staffing services. Today the company has five offices, one in Ottawa, three offices in the Greater Toronto Area
and one in Vancouver. excelHR in Ottawa has been the federal government's number-one supplier of staffing services
for 12 consecutive years. In 2006, altis·excel HR recorded revenues of $90 million dollars.
