Kansas Career Pipeline Offers Help for Thousands of Laid-off Workers

January 20, 2009 - Today, the Kansas Career Pipeline announced how its tools can help the thousands of workers in Kansas who are being affected by current and pending lay-offs. This situation is giving laid-off workers a chance to open doors to new and exciting careers that they might not otherwise know about. Unemployed workers in Kansas now have a tool to help them find these new careers: the Kansas Career Pipeline system, powered by Kuder® at www.kansascareerpipeline.org.

Kansas Career Pipeline (KCP) is a non-profit organization that offers free, Internet-based career development to everyone in Kansas. Over 75,000 Kansans have already used the KCP system to develop a career plan and help plan their future. Many Kansas schools are also on board and using the KCP to develop educational career plans with their students.

"Every day is a new beginning, and the New Year offers a particularly great opportunity for fresh starts," said Karen Cox, Vice President of Sales and Operations for Kansas Career Pipeline. "This year more than ever, career-minded people are craving new opportunities and new strategies for their career future. The Kansas Career Pipeline can help unemployed workers make that fresh start."

Once a user registers with the KCP, their first step is to take the brief Kuder® assessments, taking less than an hour. The assessment results provide individuals with their top career interests, facilitate a broad look at industries and careers, and guide exploration of hundreds of specific occupations. Individuals can discover education and training opportunities in Kansas and financial assistance to support those opportunities. They can also get help building resumes, writing cover letters, and preparing for job interviews, while connecting with local businesses looking for skilled and motivated workers.

The Kansas Career Pipeline offers these services and more free to all students and adults in Kansas. To make the first steps towards finding a new and exciting career, visit www.kansascareerpipeline.org.
