Kansas Among Leaders in Nation for Career Development

October 30, 2008 - Kansas Career Pipeline (KCP), a nonprofit organization, announced that more than 56,000 Kansans have already accessed the Kansas Career Pipeline Career Planning Center, powered by Kuder®, to begin planning for future career success. Kansas ranks among the top states in the nation who are gaining collaborative support between government agencies and not-for-profit organizations to provide comprehensive career education and job planning resources to residents statewide.

"The KCP Career Planning Center was designed to address some of the major challenges in education and workforce development in the state of Kansas," said Andy Solter, President of KCP. "It's critical that we provide the best resources possible to help citizens find meaningful careers and the educational pathways to succeed and prosper."

Launched in March, 2007, the KCP Career Planning Center is provided free to Kansans of all ages giving users the ability to discover their interests, learn about careers, plan for education, and connect with employers in Kansas. Over 75 percent of the middle schools and high schools across the state, in addition to many community colleges, technical schools, and workforce centers, are currently using the system.

Newly integrated into the system is Kuder® Connect 2 Business® for Kansas, which gives business and industry the ability to partner with education and play a role in the preparation of a better skilled workforce. This component connects Kansas businesses with students and adults through opportunities such as internships, job-shadowing, apprenticeships, mentoring, and employment. These initiatives will improve workforce preparation, alleviate labor shortages, and guide growth and economic prosperity for the state.

The KCP Career Planning Center is available free to educational institutions, students and adults throughout the state of Kansas. For more information on participation or business subscriptions, please contact Karen Cox at 316-771-6867 or visit our web site at www.kansascareerpipeline.org
